Nike‘s “Chinese New Year” collection is growing bigger and bigger by the second. After checking out the Air Force 1 edition a few days ago, we’re now getting up close and personal with the upcoming Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Year of the Snake.” And while some sneakers take the theme quite literally, this pair opts for a minimal aesthetic that’s designed to be worn every single day of the year.
To kick things off, this Air Jordan 1 Low works on top of a “Summit White” leather base that’s as clean as it gets. Perforations hit the toebox to keep things ventilated, and this is overlaid by grey “Photon Dust” panels for a contrast that’s sure to turn heads. A textured Swoosh lands on the lateral and medial sidewalls, and around the back, Jordan Brand‘s legendary winged basketball emblem is covered with an iridescent effect that’s meant to resemble a pair of snake eyes.
Underfoot, the Air midsole is dipped in a creamy “Sail” hue for a vintage vibe, and it’s lined with an icy blue rubber outsole. The “Year of the Snake” is then rounded off with a pair of custom insoles. These are printed with the number “23” is a nod to Michael Jordan’s signature jersey number.
Not only does the Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Year of the Snake” celebrate the Chinese Zodiac, it also showcases Jordan Brand’s commitment to blending tradition with contemporary appeal. Set to release on January 23rd, let us know if you’ll be going for these, and be sure to keep it locked at Captain Creps for your best chance to secure your size!
