The Air Jordan 5 “Year of the Snake” is a Pure Beast

The Chinese New Year celebrates are well underway, and after checking out the Air Jordan 11 Low “Year of the Snake” last week, we’re now getting a sneak peek of the upcoming Air Jordan 5 “Year of the Snake.” And even though this was made exclusively with female sneakerheads in mind, that won’t stop some guys from trying to squeeze into a pair.

Inspired by the sixth animal in the Chinese Zodiac, while some Year of the Snake-inspired kicks take the festive theme quite literally, this Air Jordan 5 is as subtle and clean as it gets. Boasting a “Light Bone” nubuck construction, it’s overlaid by cream leather panels that make it even more luxurious. Breathable mesh hits the lateral and medial sidewalls, while the silhouette’s signature toggle switch system graces the laces for the ultimate lockdown fit.

It’s nice and simple, but this is a CNY trainer at the end of the day, so you’ll find premium snakeskin detailing on the tongue. This exotic pattern also makes its way to the hangtag. All of this then rests on top of a chunky Nike Air midsole, and it’s finished off with iridescent shark teeth at the sides of the unit for dynamic pop that catches light with every step.

Whether you’re drawn to its elegant construction or the storytelling behind the design, the Air Jordan 5 “Year of the Snake” is a standout addition to the brand’s Lunar New Year offerings. Dropping on January 23rd, let us know if you’ll be going for these, and be sure to keep it locked at Captain Creps for your best chance to secure your size!
