In case you didn’t already know, this year is going to be a massive one for the Air Jordan 1. Not only will we be getting huge re-releases like the “Bred” and the “Black Toe,” we’ll also be blessed with incredible new colourways like the Air Jordan 1 High OG “Xuanwu.” Dropping just in time to celebrate the Lunar New Year, this is going to be one of the rarest Air Jordans in history.
Inspired by Xuanwu, the mythological deity symbolising protection and longevity in Chinese culture, these Air Jordans boast a full calfskin leather construction that’s as premium as it gets. The base is painted in white, while the overlays are embossed with an intricate snakeskin effect, which is the perfect homage for the Year of the Snake.
This exotic aesthetic extends towards the toebox and lacing system, while the winged basketball on the collar is outlined in 24K gold to keep in line with the CNY theme. Traditional Chinese symbols, such as cranes, peaches of longevity, and auspicious clouds, are meticulously detailed on the Swoosh, heel, and outsole, making it even more special. And as if that wasn’t enough, each pair is presented in special packaging that includes a silk sleeve, extra laces, and more.
Expected to drop in February in exclusively in China, the Air Jordan 1 High OG “Xuanwu” will be available via Nike SNKRS. Only 3,399 pairs will be made, so be sure to keep it locked at Captain Creps for your best chance to secure your size!
