The Nike Air Humara first came out in 1997 as a trail running shoe. Nike took design inspiration from motorcycle wheels, incorporating the feature into the thick and rugged traction on the Humara. The name Humara originated from the Native American people of Tarahumara, who are known for long-distance marathons.

Mesh and leather comprise the shoe for durability and support. Cables on the sides lock the foot down, ensuring consistent fit throughout the journey.
