The Nike Dunk Low “CBGB” Revives New York City’s Punk Spirit

There’s something in the water this season. After taking a look at the “Dunks Not Dead” just yesterday, Nike has unwrapped another punk-inspired Dunk with the Nike Dunk Low “CBGB.” A homage to the iconic music club that opened its doors back in 1973, this venue is known as the birthplace of the movement. And even though it closed in 2006, it’s still a holy site for rebels across New York and beyond.

Working on top of a lilac leather base, this sneaker is decked out with overlays that have been specifically designed to resemble cracked steel. Fiery red Nike branding hits the tongue, while the heel badge has been redesigned to mimic CBGB’s legendary logo. The insoles are also decorated with sticker-style graphics, a nod to the vibrant posters and chaotic walls that characterised the club’s infamous bathrooms.

A standout detail is the green embroidered tongue tags, replicating the Bowery and Bleecker Street signs. However, Nike’s intentional misspelling of “Bleecker” on the tag introduces a quirky touch, sparking conversation among fans.

Balancing a gritty aesthetic with a timeless silhouette, the Nike Dunk Low “CBGB” bridges the gap between sneaker culture and music history. It’s a tribute, not only to the iconic venue but also to the punk ethos it helped define. Dropping Spring 2025, let us know if you’ll be going for these and be sure to keep it locked at Captain Creps for your best chance to secure your size!
