The Nike SB Dunk Low “Black History Month” Celebrates an Overlooked Part of History

Every February for the past few years, Nike has honoured Black History Month with a selection of special edition sneakers. And 2025’s no different, as we take our first look at the Nike SB Dunk Low “Black History Month.” However, instead of celebrating the event as a whole, the American sportswear company has taken one part of history that’s often overlooked: Black cowboys and their contributions to Western culture.

This limited edition SB Dunk boasts a vibrant “Tourmaline Green” upper that’s completely decked out in suede. Orange “Monarch” piping runs across the entire sneaker for a pop of contrast, while a “Baroque Brown” Swoosh glides through the lateral and medial sidewalls. Around the heel, you’ll find intricate Sonora-style embroidery, and you’ll also find a single star that links it back to the Western theme. The “Nike” logo has also been remastered to mimic a lassoed rope.

Adding depth to the narrative, the insoles showcase a yellow-printed silhouette of a cowboy riding through a sunlit desert. To complete the package, the sneaker comes with a yellow handkerchief featuring the phrase, “What’s gonna happen is gonna happen.” This small yet significant detail adds a layer of authenticity and serves as a reminder of perseverance in the face of challenges.

With its thoughtful design and cultural significance, the Nike SB Dunk Low “Black History Month” stands out as a meaningful addition to the SB Dunk line. Dropping on February 2025, let us know if you’ll be going for these and be sure to keep it locked at Captain Creps for your best chance to secure your size!
