A vintage adidas running trainer reimagined for the modern era of sportswear. The adidas ZX 700 HD “Core Black” takes it all the way back to the 80s for a nostalgic vibe brought about by the ZX series.
The ZX footwear series by adidas launched in 1984. Meant for running, ZX trainers brought various features resulting in versatile footwear options suitable for running, training, and lifestyle. Aside from the numbers as the title suffix, adidas ZX models featured colour-coding schemes varying from blue, yellow, green, and red. These colours categorised the important aspects of a running shoe such as cushioning, support, guidance, and even speed.
One of the most notable tech found on most of the adidas ZX sneakers is the adidas Torsion system. Torsion is a rigid midfoot shank that’s been used on a lot of adidas performance shoes. Torsion became a mainstay in ZX sneakers, providing support and stability where you need them.
The adidas ZX 700 is one of the earliest trainers of the popular running franchise by adidas. Introduced halfway through the 80s, the ZX 700 makes up for one vintage trainer – a favoured classic no matter the era. The ZX 700 HD revives the retro feel of the sneaker while showcasing modern elements of the ZX series.
Mesh and textile are the usual upper materials, while TPU and suede overlays reinforce the classic runner. A standard EVA foam midsole brings decent cushioning and comfort for all-day wear.
Vintage adidas trefoil logos adorn the tongue and the heel, while a “ZX 700 HD” label appears on the plastic heel clip.
A wavy traction pattern on the outsole completes the shoe.
This colourway of the adidas ZX 700 arrives in a “Triple Black” build-up with reflective details on the adidas three stripes.
It’s available now on the adidas UK website and other select retailers worldwide.
