This special-edition Air Jordan 6 Retro celebrates Chinese New Year with artisan designs and porcelain-inspired details. On the other hand, it’s also highly reminiscent of the Air Jordan 6 “Defining Moments Package”; except this one boasts an all-white leather upper. Long story short, what we really meant to say was: this shoe is pure fire!
Way back in 2018, we’ve seen the Air Jordan 6 “CNY” featuring a Black and Gold makeover with firework and flower motifs. Jordan Brand brings back the first Jordan championship signature model for 2022’s Chinese New Year festivities. This time it’s much simpler and incorporated a rather fancy aesthetic.
Launched in 1991, the Air Jordan 6 took inspiration from the Porsche 911, specifically the heel rim. Tinker Hatfield’s masterpiece is in full display as he managed to bring a whole new look after the jet fighter-inspired Air Jordan 5. The most notable designs on the J6 are the zig-zag overlays, rubber tongue, and perforations all over the shoe.
Making its way back to the 6th model is the Nike Air technology. A visible Air unit adorns the heel, while an encapsulated Air unit hides in the forefoot section. While still pretty minimal in terms of cushioning, it’s enough to keep you going all day.
The Air Jordan 6 Retro Chinese New Year (2022) arrives in a Sail White base with hints of gold on the midsole and an icy outsole. What seems like a simple CNY colourway actually boasts Chinese porcelain details such as the cracked leather panel. The nylon heel features a unique marble-like pattern.
Golden Jumpman details on the heel and outsole aim to bring good luck for the year. The shoe also comes with a special packaging box.
Releasing just in time for the festivities, keep an eye out for its launch in February 2022.
