Old-school is in once again with the first Nike Air Pegasus model. One of the longest-running footwear lines from Nike takes it back to 1983; flexing this Nike Air Pegasus 83 Premium Vintage “Sail Green” as part of the “Certified Fresh” pack. This joins other classic trainers such as the Blazer, Dunk, and Air Force 1 which all feature vintage aesthetics.
Classics are back in the game especially when Nike brings new colourways to 80s trainers. The Nike Air Pegasus 83 returns before it celebrates the Pegasus line’s 40th anniversary in 2023. Things are looking good as the latest Pegasus trainers are consistent performers among running shoes.
The Nike Pegasus line currently has 39 models as of 2022; which is no easy feat as some footwear series tend to fall off in terms of quality. The Nike Air Pegasus first came out in 1983 and featured a low-cut construction comprised of nylon, suede, and leather. Nike Air makes a comeback and appears on the heel for improved cushioning.
Modern Pegasus models are now called Nike Air Zoom Pegasus and feature a combination of React and Zoom Air technology. Without the first Pegasus silhouette, we probably would not get this far.
The “Certified Fresh” pack features vintage trainers in vintage colourways as a nod to Nike’s icons.
This Nike Air Pegasus 83 Premium Vintage “Sail Green” features a Sail nylon base with suede overlays. Green laces add life to the rather monochromatic makeover of this colourway.
Keep an eye out for its release in July 2022 on Nike and select retailers worldwide. Expect more OG Pegasus to arrive due to its upcoming 40th anniversary in 2023.
